The Mendips Rocks has arrived!
A massive welcome to the newest member of My Town Rocks, Sarah.
Covering Glastonbury, Street, Shepton Mallet, Cheddar and Wells, The Mendips Rocks launched on the 25th May. Since May, The Mendips Rock website has already received over 2,500 visits and there are over 790 followers on social media. It's already a brilliant resource for local families.
Here’s what Sarah told us about running The Mendips Rock as a business, and how you can get involved.
What made you start The Mendips Rocks?
I heard about the Rocks franchise through a friend who thought that my previous experience would be a good fit for becoming a franchisee. Last year I completed a social media manager course, as part of the course I ran a community campaign on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. The campaign was a celebration of all that was going on in the beautiful Mendip Hills and surrounding towns and villages. Joining the My Town Rocks team enables me to continue with this celebration of the local area.
What do you love most about it?
Finding out all the great stuff going on and sharing this information with other families in the area. I’m passionate about the area in which my family and I live. My aim is to enhance the lives of other families by providing them with a go to place of things to do in their leisure time - from baby groups and soft play to nights out for the grown-ups.
I also enjoy working with local businesses and assisting them in promoting the fabulous things they have going on.
Why do The Mendips Rock?
I feel really lucky to live in this rural area. We have wonderful market towns and picturesque villages to visit, beautiful open spaces and woodland to explore. We’re passionate about locally produced food and drink in Somerset, and there are weekly markets and one-off festivals throughout the year where you can sample local produce. There’s also lots of cultural festivals covering comedy, film, literature and music – and many of these cater for the whole family.
How can others get in on the action?
There are a number of things people can do to help me which would be seriously appreciated. I love a chat on social media, so if you are following and see something that interests you, get involved! Please also send me through details of any events you are organising or have going on in your area. Finally, if you do something that you or you family particularly enjoy, let me know so I can share it with others.
