Guildford Rocks: a brand new resource for local families
So excited to tell you that Guildford mum, Laura, is the latest member of the My Town Rocks family.
Here’s a quick catch up with Laura telling us about her exciting new venture…
Can you tell me a little bit about you and your family?
I live in Guildford with my husband Alex, and our son Rory who is two. I moved here for university in 2003 and stayed here ever since. As a family we love to get out and about and are always looking for new things to do and places to visit, especially when there is tea and cake involved!
What made you decide to start a Rocks website in your area?
As a mum to a toddler I'm constantly looking for activities or events to keep him entertained, but I don’t have the time to spend ages looking for things to do.
When I saw the opportunity to set up a My Town Rocks in Guildford I knew that it would be a great way to help other parents like me find ways to keep their family entertained.
I’d been on the lookout for a more flexible job, and with a background in marketing I felt my skills would be well suited to running a website like this.
What do you think you’ll most enjoy about running the website?
I'm really looking forward to finding lots of great activities and events and being able to share them with other families in the area.
My hope is that the website will be a great time saver for families and will enable them to spend more time together doing fun things.
I'm also looking forward to getting to know the local businesses and finding out more about what is going on in Guildford and the surrounding areas.
What makes Guildford a great area for families?
Guildford has so much to offer families, from the outdoor space and beauty of the Surrey Hills to the busy town centre full of shops, theatres, cafes and restaurants.
As well as lots going on in the town, there is easy access to London and the south coast so there are plenty of options for days out too.
I can't wait to show everyone what a great town it is and all the great things that are going on.
Is there anything people can do to help you?
I’d love for people to tell their friends about the website and get following us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram - my aim is for the website to become the number one online destination for families in the area. So visit for ideas of things to do in Guildford after we launch in October.
And of course, I’d love to hear about any new events or activities they'd like listed on the site, plus feedback or reviews on what they've been up to with their family.
So, whether you’re a parent who lives in Guilford, a local business with a family attraction, or you want to shout about an event happening in this area – get in touch with Laura via email hello@guildfordrocks.co.uk
If you get the chance to meet Laura, you’ll know she’s going to make her Guildford Rocks a massive success.
There are currently opportunities to run your own My Town Rocks website and build your own online community and business.

“My aim is to enhance the lives of other families by providing them with a go to place of things to do in their leisure time - from baby groups and soft play to nights out for the grown-ups. I also enjoy working with local businesses and assisting them in promoting the fabulous things they have going on.”
