Coventry Rocks' Jess McLish tackles a charity abseil for Mind
It was a proud moment for us all at My Town Rocks this week as teammate Jess tackled the heights of Coventry Cathedral, abseiling 90ft to raise money for Coventry, Warwickshire and Worcestershire Mind.
Jess and her amazingly supportive Coventry Rocks community raised over £600, contributing to an incredible £3,000+ total raised by her team in support of local mental health services.
Taking the leap for a local cause
The abseil saw participants descend from the iconic Coventry Cathedral, with supporters gathering below to cheer them on. Despite some heavy rain earlier in the day, conditions cleared just in time for the challenge.
Jess described the experience as both nerve-wracking and rewarding, with the encouragement from family, friends and fellow participants helping her take that final step over the edge.
“I’m so happy to say I did it – and it was actually a lot of fun! Together, our amazing team raised over £3,000 for Mind, a brilliant local charity doing vital work for mental health.”
Community support makes the difference
The event brought together a group of fundraisers, supporters and organisers, all united in raising awareness and funds for mental health support across Coventry and the surrounding areas.
Jess was supported on the day by family and friends, with a particularly special moment coming at the end of the challenge.
“When the girls ran up to me afterwards and told me they were proud – that’s a moment I’ll never forget.”

The event was organised with support from Coventry Cathedral, the team at Mind and professional abseil organisers, ensuring a safe and memorable experience for everyone involved.
